Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc

I did not like this SB from Groth, which is surprising given my favorite CA SBs are typically from Napa

Pale lemon with stone fruit and citrus aromas adding some floral tones. On the palate flavors of crisp picked apple, peach and lemon citrus zest with blossom and cinnamon spice, lively acidity supporting the oak and “sir lie” aging. Medium+ finish, vivid acidity, ending with fruit and mineral tones. Very nice.

Apple, lemon curd, grapefruit, slate and peach. Bright acidity and good balance.

Bright straw gold with almost rosey highlights. Inviting nose of underripe pear and balsa wood. Echoed on the “2%-milky” (I.e., not quite “creamy”) palate adding lime rind and a hint of limestone. Medium full mouthfeel and medium plus acidity round it all out. Excellent expression of the California lightly-Fumê style SB. Weighty enough for roasted poultry and firmer fish, but still lithe enough for greens and shellfish. Not on the way out but I wouldn’t hold much beyond 2023.

Star bright straw yellow. Inviting nose of green apple and balsam. Echoed on the medium light palate with citrus rind and a stony minerality. Juicy acidity and a moderate rindy finish (used French oak). Classic California Fumé Blanc style SB with an elegance that’s to be expected from a producer like Groth. Enjoy with salads, seafood, or as I am, KFC. Drink now through 2024.

Tried this again, Pale lemon with aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and grassy floral notes. On the palate pineapple and melon flavors, lime with an underlying sweetness, crisp and refreshing with vivid acidity. Medium finish, good balance ending with citrus mineral characteristics. Nice! Consistent!

Slight green pea nose gives way to a soft lemon and pineapple palate. Texture, acid, finish are complementary. Nice entry into Napa sauv
