The Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is bold and punchy, with lovely floral top notes that add lift. Blue/purplish fruit, clovers, leather and a dash of black pepper all run through this racy, layered Syrah. This is even better than it was last year. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2023)

Might be a single vineyard and misidentified- but this is a beautiful juice bomb. Figs and hibiscus. Love this, approachable and easy to share.

This is #Syrah on high mode. Like a Syrah IPA. Danky, plummy, ripey jammy and yet more balanced and unique than his Tensley vineyard version (which is pure residual sugar) if you ask me. I like Joey’s wines because they are brass balls. No excuses.

Blood, olive tamponade, stewed plums nose and dark black and purple fruits on the tongue. Tannins are completely resolved and this wine is ready to drink now. Do not hold onto this Syrah as it will not get better than it is now.

Holy fruit, Batman! All the black and blue fruit, licorice, spice you could cram in a bottle. Weighty, viscous and big, but pretty well balanced for its scale. Nice example of the style.

Wow, so good! Better nose than the single vineyard.

Thought it was pretty darn good after opening up a few. Total wine - $19

Very dark, almost black, and very jammy. Too much for me, this is syrupy.
