From island off of Italy's west coast. Monica is the varietal. Owner was consultant for Antinori for many years. Fermented in cement tanks. Velvety mouthfeel compared to other wines tasted. Rhone-related flavor. Peach aroma hiding in background.

I am in love with this wine, fruit driven, layered with herbs/spice. Very versatile food wine, medium body. Makes you keep guessing what you are smelling and tasting. I thought it was very fresh for a 6 year old.

2011 Monica grape (some other red varieties blended in). Vinous and similar to Syrah on its greenest day.

Though I've tasted wines from more than 150 grapes, Monica is a new one for me. A ruby medium-to-light-bodied wine with surprising but welcome tannins and decent acidity. Cherry fruit that is a touch jammy; wine is a touch bricky around the edges. This bottle might be a touch corked.
