Lemon, deep almond oil, bright citrus acidity, lingering minerality. A PYCM fan.

Hard to beat PYCM with the menu at Jônt. I love the Charmes site and 2014 is wide open, with just a touch of flinty reduction, but it’s all about its purity of yellow fruit that’s complimented by ripping citrusy acids, hazelnut and a hint of vanilla cream. Its supremely concentrated and dense palate shows great structure, power and a balanced stony minerality. This is still a baby but already evolving wonderfully. Great bottle.

Same as last bottle. Needs 5 hour decant.

Serious reduction that after an initial 3 hour decant and then a necessary additional hour 😅, finally blows off and gives way to layers of ripe orchard fruit, dry yellow extract, lemon oil and lilies, finishing with a cool mineral streak. It’s drinking quite youthful and primary still, but it’s in a good place nonetheless showing a nice balance of richness, vibrant acidity, tension and freshness. 2012 could sleep a bit more or use a 3 hour decant at minimum. A lot of great material here.

Give it a little time for the reduction to blow off. It positively crackles with energy. Hedonistic but finely tuned interplay of lemon, vanilla, toasted nuts, spiced pear, apricot and stone. A treat

PYCM 2015 Horizontal

Fruit nose with ginger hint. Here comes the Meursault mouth-filling power and high acidity. Less depth as opposed to Ch-M we tasted in the previous flight. Generous wine, but still a baby.

Fruit comes from the prized Dessus sector (top part), in the middle of Lafon’s portion, next to Puligny Combettes and touching Perrières.

intense precise refined citrus and stoniness, acidity dialed up. Wow.

Lemon lime, tropical fruits, crushed rock with good weight & length that kept getting better with every sip.

Decanted for a hour, but still reductive with PYCMs trademark nose of matchstick and flint. Really should have given it another hour to air before pouring because it started opening up in the glass towards the end. Quite saline and bitter on the palate and seems to lack the weight and complexity of a Premier Cru. Rather high acidity and combined with its cool nose, a few guessed St Aubin.
