The 2020 Ilatraia is a potent red that is going to need at least a few years in bottle to soften. Swaths of tannin wrap around a core of black fruit, chocolate, new leather, licorice, incense and lavender. A wine of substance and power, Ilatraia is not as forthcoming as most wines from the Tuscan coast. I suspect the high percentage of Petit Verdot in the blend has a lot to do with that. This is a superb showing, especially for a vintage that yielded generally lighter wines on the coast. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2023)

This weekend we opened the 2018 Brancaia Ilatraia Rosso Super Tuscan Cabernet Sauvignon Blend. A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot and 20% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, chocolate, tobacco, licorice, herbaceous notes, mint and dusty dark earth.

On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, balsamic, green olive, sage, green bell pepper, spice and earth.

This is a full bodied wine with a fresh vibrant mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + firm mouthcoating grippy tannins that leads me into a long black fruit rich dark earth finish. A beautiful wine right for any occasion. Enjoy your week ahead and stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

A blend of 40% Cab Sauv, 40% Petit Verdot & 20% Cab Franc, aged for 18 months in French oak (50% new), deep Ruby with aromas of dark red fruits, spice and floral notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and currants, tobacco, cacao and spice. Well integrated oak, fine soft tannins, nice mouthfeel, long finish ending with fruit and spice notes.

12' Brancaia IIatraia Cabernet blend. Hands down the BEST value Cabernet blend(Cabernet , CF, PV) I've had in the last 12 months. It's drinking like a wine at twice the price point! Highly recommend! Tried this in a tasting room in Italy. Wish I had purchased moreπŸ˜•. Pop & pour wine.
