Pours a dark ruby. Nose offers plump black fruits underpinned by a minty/chocolate note. I'm sure tasty to some, but I keep finding that I don't care for the aromatics or balance of a lot of Washington Cab...

One of the more compelling and complex WA reds I've had. Still deeply colored, intense nose of chocolate covered cherries, but with a reserved character, rather than over-the-top confected. Very well balanced and missing the sometimes, too fleshy/higher Ph I find disturbing in WA reds.

Last of the four year vertical we are trying out for #WAWineMonth. We had the 05, 07, 08 and 09.

Just through the appearance you can tell this is the youngest of the lot with a deep ruby red core. Fruitiest too on the nose with dark red berries and followed up with some graphite, light damp leaves, cocoa and cinnamon. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. A touch more oomph than the 2008. Layered palate with dark cherries, dark cocoa and cassis. Dry and long finish. Drink till 2023.

This particular bottling is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. (90+)

Third of the four year vertical we are trying out for #WAWineMonth. We had the 05, 07, 08 and 09.

Medium garnet red. Light baking spices on the nose with some tobacco but a bit muted overall. A bit younger characteristics to start on the nose but never really opened up. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) with a medium plus body. Layered palate with cherries, bitter dark cocoa powder, tobacco leaves, a touch of tomatoes, and damp earth. Solid minerality in the medium plus finish. Drink till 2018.

Made up of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec.

Second of the four year vertical we are trying out for #WAWineMonth. We had the 05, 07, 08 and 09.

Medium to deep garnet with brick edges. Quite a bit of oak on the nose with notes of cigar boxes, dark spices, dried fruits and woody. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium plus bodied. Well integrated with quite a bit of earthiness compared to the other three vintages. Very dark throughout with notes of cocoa, herbs and some black cherries. Medium plus to long finish. Showed better on day two. Drink till 2022.

Made up of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23.5% Merlot, 3.5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.

First of the four year vertical we are trying out for #WAWineMonth. We had the 05, 07, 08 and 09.

A little worried when we opened this bottle, the cork was so soft it snapped in half as soon as we got in. But thankfully, the wine survived. Deep garnet with brick edges and a touch of sediment. Unpleasant attack with an overload of tomatoes that took a little bit of air to wear off. Followed by some aged characteristics on the nose with damp leaves and dark spices. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and strong yet balanced acidity. Medium plus finish with dried red cherries on the attack. Some darker characteristics on the backend with dark cocoa and gravel. Has some similarities to an aged Bordeaux. Dry and long finish. The flavors on the nose and palate definitely showed its age against the other three, but still not a thin wine. Drink till 2019.

First wine to start off the night before diving into our peppercorn, rosemary, garlic and red wine marinated flank steak. Brick red with a dark ruby core. Lovely aged nose with notes of damp leaves, forest floor, wet tobacco, an old cigar box and undertones of dark plums. Palate even tasted like a 15 year old bottle. Not that it was over the hill or tired, but the complexity of the aromatics and smoothness on the palate. Moderate tannins (5/10) that were melted and delicious. Smooth moderate plus body with a ton of truffles, ground mushrooms, earthy and dried dark plums. Moderate plus finish, smooth and plush. Very enjoyable and did a great job starting off the meal. Drink till 2018.

Outrageous qpr - easy drinking new world style Bordeaux blend - cedar notes and silky tannins up front - fruit dominant - melted red licorice on day 2. Worth the 17$

Color of burgundy with haze. Nose of nice barrel fragrance, round alcohol, raisin, ripe plum, dried figs, and a bit salty note. Taste of velvet, round structure, with smoky, woody, tobacco leaf, and herby note. Low tannins, subtle sweetness like dried fruit, and well polished light acidity mix well to produce a feeling of medium strength wine with good complexity. Very easy to drink and enjoy. Aftertaste is a bit missing with a bit of bittersweet zest and spice. All edges are polished off, and enjoy it at her peak now. Having 2nd bottle 3 months later. Again very enjoyable!

Needs an hr and a half to show but not bad, very drinkable. If I'd paid more than $20 my rating would be a lot less.
