I'm on a Clos de Gat run. After an impressive 2003 Harel Cabernet and a disappointing, disjointed 2009 Harel Merlot, this 2008 Syrah shines. It drives a nice middle road between floral, peppery Syrah and brawny, leathery Shiraz, with nice berry fruit, a meaty spiciness and savoury, resolved tannins. I wouldn't hold this much further but it delivers an excellent glass right now.

16/20 (88/100)

Third tasting and it reveals itself at its peak in a style that recalls Cornas or a first-class Saint-Joseph: Smoked bacon, animal, crunchy and powerful. Gourmet sensation of residual sugar. Caramel, roasting. Long and refined finish with drying and persistent tannins. Magnificent price/pleasure ratio. 2016 is perfectly balanced.

Magnifique rapport prix/plaisir. 2016 est parfaitement à l’équilibre.

Beautifully aged, elegant Syrah from the Judean Hills in Israel. Restrained dark fruit, Provençal herbal notes and maybe some crushed dried flowers. Very refined and delicious.

Garnet-tiled, murky, deep dress.Clos de Gat is an area of Judea in Israel. With two hours of aeration, the primary notes, generous very ripe and animal fruits mix well with the notes of aging and spices. We are not far from a Cornas or other wine from the North Rhône with the intensity of the Israeli sun. The notes of evolution go perfectly with the bouquet.
