The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Les Vieilles Roussanne was matured for 9 months in a combination of old and new oak barriques. It offers pronounced aromas of spring blossom, quince, yellow apple, candied pear, lemon peel and verbena tea. On the palate this 2020 white is medium to full-bodied and framed by soft acidity. Waxy and chewy, crisp, floral, and mineral notes with delicate flavors. Not much of a nose to speak of.

Straw to pale gold in color. On the nose butterscotch, flint, lemon verbena and nectarine. In the mouth fresh lemon, apricots, slight asparagus, honeysuckle, and gun smoke on the finish. Incredibly lush with a deliciously long finish.

Jan 27th, 2022Not a very potent nose but a tasty wine. Enjoyed with Christmas dinner (salad and Camembert-fig jam app). Bright, balanced acidity, lots of green apple & floral notes. Somewhat pricier ($35 at Costco) but would buy again for a special occasion
