Château De Vaudieu

Château de Vaudieu

Admiral G. Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2012

This is a delicious 10 year old Grenache from Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Medium plus in body and fruit forward, with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Dry on the palate with medium acidity and a beautiful flowery nose.

Showing black fruits with oak, licorice, spices, tobacco, herbs, leather, earth, peppercorn, cola and chocolates.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a wonderful wine at this point. Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and so much better after 4 hours of airtime.

I had this vintage 2 years ago and loved it as well. Peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.

This delicious wine, from a good vintage in Southern Rhône, is showing great balance.

I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

100% Grenache grapes were aged for 18 months in new large oak barrels.

15% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

Plateau des Chênes Lirac Red Rhone Blend 2016

Love me some Lirac! From The Brechet family’s (owners of Vaudieu in Chateauneuf) holdings in Lirac comes this super concentrated, fruit forward wine. Ripe black fruit, pepper, and licorice. Beautiful ripe fruit attacks the mid-palate leading to a silky, opulent finish. Not complex, but really enjoyable - tremendous value. 2016 vintage on Aug 2, 2019 — 3 years ago

Winery notes
Not an easy wine to find, check out K&L

blend of Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Roussanne, this wine is distinctly floral and lush, exemplifying the quality that the famed Brechet family of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s Château Vaudieu brings to every wine in their lineup. The Brechet family has an estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and just across the river from it they own a few small parcels in Lirac. This lovely little wine is at once floral, delicate, and rich, with a surprisingly weighty palate and a round quality on the tongue that enhances its depth. You might think a white from 2015 is a bit on the old side, but this little gem is just hitting its stride. With its couple of added years of age it has mellowed out, creating an almost honeyed quality in the glass that intensifies the complexity and lengthens the finish. It’s simply begging to be paired with a lightly spiced Asian cuisine such as a milder Thai dish or a traditional pork Bahn Mi.
