The wines in Mendoza have rapidly evolved over the last 15 years. One winemaker told us that they put the previous 100 year evolution into a 10 year revolution with new vineyard management techniques and winemaking methods. New expressions of Malbec and new varieties. El Enemigo is a winery that is an example of the latter. They are focusing on single vineyard expressions with Cab Franc. This particular one was a bit more single note than I remembered tasting at the winery. Maybe the 11 years of age started to show with the fruit being a little less expressive. Still good though. Soft, fine grained tannins, a little spice on the background lifting the red/dark red fruit. — 7 days ago

Possibly best $11 wine I have ever had! And guess what. Produced in Ecuador! Right at the equator where you are not suppose to be able to grow grapes for fine wine. Dos Hemispheres is proving the impossible! This was a Merlot produced under the Armonia label. Has only been in stainless steel. Tastes like an intense Merlot from north-east Italy. Dark, slightly tart fruit infused with spice, fine polished tannins, depth, balanced and a grippy, lingering finish. Wow. I did NOT expect this. I kinda given up on Salentein because of the poor way they received us back in 2024. But we were there as well in 2020 a nd bought this barrel select Malbec. It is AMAZING!!!! Medium body but so expressive, layers of red fruit flavor, polished tannins that guide it to the most perfect finish. Makes you feel grateful. — 8 days ago

Amazing mesmerizing Pinot. Each sip is an adventure. It keeps evolving. You have to quiet and listen to its whisper. It’s had the earthy mineral burn characteristic of Central Otago. I had given up on the Delectable App and surrendered to the thought I lost all my wine reports, but hey, it still seems to be alive and actually working much better. So hoping for the best, I am going to keep my scores again. Here an okay Brunello. Certainly not great. Strong acidic note that kept the fruit and complexity hidden. Storing it for one day made it worse. Not sure how both WS and JS scored it 95+. — 3 months ago
