A solid performance as always from ye good ol’ Petruccino and a great expression of the diversity that Sangiovese can provide. 15% alcohol by reading the label, but only a bit warming, instead it brings texture that is well encapsuled by the dense fruit profile without loosing its freshness, superbly textured tannins and a vigourating acidity is drivning the wine forward with an athletic posture. Luxurious nose where the perfectly placed oak profile is well nurtured by the suave and dense fruit over a stony and stimulating background. — 5 years ago
Like picking up a cute Chilean Chihuahua & finding you have a German Shepard on hand: on opening all disjointed & astringent, like many a 14$ wine is. But behold, several minutes later in glass & the pedigree begins to show: a firm light-medium body, medium + acidity, a tannic structure- think Etna, but meaner (the Shepard)-gorgeous black & dark red fruits, with that volcanic mineral undertow. From old, ungrafted Pais vines. Like really old, pre- phylloxera. A little chill works here too. Pais? Chile? Not your cute pop ‘n pour, just give it that mini decant & ye shall see the light. — 2 years ago
First encounter with the 2016 Trediberri Barolo. After an hour in the decanter it is very closed and tight. After an additional 30 minutes of had work of spinning the glass the wine finally unleashed its inner complexity. As it opens up it displays an intense fruit profile with slightly tart red berries; cranberries, rose hip and blood orange with a softer edged strawberry fruit and lavender coming from behind. Beyond the fruit there is plenty of complexity coming from a pronounced portion of incense, tar and spicy characters.
A penetrating acidity and pronounced, ye approachable, tannins with a gripping texture dictates the palate. A very good fatigue on the mid palate, strong but with light steps and plenty of vibrant energy. An expansive complexity holds your attention through a solid finish. 92 +
If opening today I would give it 3-4 hours in the decanter, and don’t rush it in the glass. I am confident that it will age beautifully, and I will keep my additional 6 pack on the back for a couple of years before a revisit. — 4 years ago
You’ll have to look far for a Napa Cab of this standard at the modest price of ye good ‘ol Frog’s Leap, which does not leave you wish for anything more. The ‘15 is showing a wonderfully ripe, dense and energetic fruit profile aligned with the well placed oak profile and trademark dusty graphite complexity. Round and ripe textured tannins with a nice grip is bringing the palate throughout a long, though not exceptional — 5 years ago
While the Greek name 'xinomavro' translates to 'black acid', this wine was light in tannins and acidity, clean, mellow.
Violets and red plums in summer on ye nose and something more that I cant define. (In the second bottle I got it; artisan made strawberry pop tarts)
More violet but also strawberry on my tongue. Maybe I taste volcanic soil??

Time to turn on the heaters, whatever you may have..
This is a great wine, and has never wavered from being one that everyone will enjoy, without that cloying and chemical that usually comes with ye olde crowd pleaser.
This is a well made wine, with a nose of animal fat,
This is a medium bodied, pleasant drinker. Calm and precise. Juicy mouth filling fruit, bright, and at the same time lends itself to a darker side of fruit. Light, yet on target, tannins. Low acidity, high Alcohol, yet no heat.
Stay warm. — 5 years ago

2021. Lower abv, minimal tannin, funky fruit. Ended up being a perfect pairing for Ye-beg lamb tibs and Dereq beef tibs! — a year ago
