Stunningly pretty wine. Nose of preserved lemon, honey, yarrow, and ripe apricot. Flavors of stewed yellow pear, apricots, with a hint of butterscotch, gorgeously acidic and long on the finish. Perfect with seafood and probably a range of dishes. — 7 years ago
Holy crap. @Alder Yarrow nails it. He turned me on to Sicily and Etna and hasn't been wrong. This is stunning wine. Cherry, crushed slate, acid for days, enveloping tannins with roses lavender and jasmine and some faint blackberry. Incredible — 9 years ago
🙂 Brings to mind @Alder Yarrow and his apt “glow on the palate” dimension. Already a balanced offering. Love these wines. — 2 years ago
2012| button mushrooms, pear crisp, chamomile, yarrow, and nutmeg. It's complex. It's delicious. It's thought provoking. And I love it. — 8 years ago
Such a treat to attend Brooks Wines first University event led by Alder Yarrow and Brooks' talented winemaker, Chris Williams. As Alder put it, the 2014 Sweet P Riesling is "fresh as a button." Spot on, Mr. Yarrow, in addition, lilting notes of green apples, white peaches, spring flowers, mint and the merest hint of pea shoot. Lush and layered, there is perceptible sweetness as the name implies, but it's well-balanced by spritely acidity amidst bosc pears and quince. Finishes with a touch of spice. Thai food, anyone? — 9 years ago
Freshiest vintage indigenous Sibirkovy! Distinctive, refreshing, refined, dangerously quaffable! :)
Control yield. Manual harvest. Gentle processing.
Pale straw yellow, light emerald glitters.
Attack of blooming clover field. Steppe, melliferous flowers, white apple, oregano, unripe pear, lollipop, canned pineapple, linden blossom, white peach, yarrow, sweetie, quince succade.
Vibrant and focused palate. Medium (12.5%) body, crispy acidity. Mineral. Green apple, alycha, rhubarb, white strawberry, green gooseberry, unripe apricot, carambola, sweetie flavors.
Lengthy finish of yellow apple, rhubarb, white plum and elegant minerality.
Paired marlin carpaccio as well as spicy rings of fried squid.

for former Palo Altans who assumed Kirks "steakburgers" went the way of Miyake, Kirks still lives! (in Town & Country ctr); here with a smuggled-in bottle of rich, dried berry/savory "Gaillac" 09 (red blend fr sw #France) courtesy of Alder Yarrow — 8 years ago
Showing signs of oxidization, but underneath fig and bruised-apple aromas, the nose has a rich and secondary nose of dark black raspberries, cedar, tobacco, dried cherries, and a tinge of cumin. In the mouth, it resembles a printed canvas of dark fruit, leather, cedar, tobacco, and savory tamari notes. There’s a nice texture to the midpalate flavors. It is gorgeously balanced, medium bodied, with lively acidity, still some tannic grip - though refined, and a satisfying length.
This is a wine of substance, at an extremely interesting and delicious point in its life, available for an absolutely ridiculous price. Thanks @Alder Yarrow for the recommendation! (The winemaker is Cathy Corison). — 9 years ago
