Wild Turkey Distilling Co

Egly-Ouriet

Cuvée des Grands Côtés Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes Coteaux Champenois Ambonnay Pinot Noir 2014

What a great wine! Pinot Noir from the Cote Champenois. Very mineral, with some nice red fruit on the palate. You can taste where a Blanc de Noir gets its profile from in this wine. Great to have this “Grand Cru” with some age on it (9 years). I picked up two bottles up in the silent bid auction of the 2025 Wine on Wheels event. Such a lucky buy. Enjoyed with home cooked grilled lamb, sautéed mushrooms with a Sherry reduction, asparagus and wild rice medley. Pretty good, although probably a touch better with something more along the lines of poultry (roast chicken or duck, maybe turkey). — 2 months ago

Russell's Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey

For $40 it hits all the time classic notes vanilla, caramel, oak with a overarching sweetness and solid viscosity very solid pour for the price — a year ago

Buffalo Trace Distillery

Sazerac Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey

How does anyone not hoard (regular) Sazerac at ~$25?!
Incredibly smooth, great sweet note to the finish. Again, why haven't I not been buying this for years...?

(BTW Kirkland Bourbon at $30 is worth the price of admission, earthy oak note on the palate is quite similar to Buffalo Trace.)

Counter-Clockwise from top left:
Buffalo Trace (single-barrel selection), Jefferson's Reserve Very Old/Very Small Batch, Knob Creek (9yo), Kirkland Bourbon (7yo), St George single-malt (SM 015), Hillrock (Ancram NY, solera aged, Barrel No. 174), Berkshire Mountain Distillers Shay's Rebellion and Wild Turkey Master's Keep (Batch 0001, 17yo).

Yes to Rye, my ‘go to’ for a category I don’t venture into often.

Surprisingly Eagle Rare 10 is highly allocated this year if you’ve had in the past. One bottle only on K&L

Nice assortment, if I remember correctly,

Old Fitzgerald

14 Years Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Very enjoyable. The power is restrained and rational as opposed to some of the other 100+ proof barrel offerings I’ve been drinking. Kinda funny that back in the day my dad only had 80 proof and we that Wild Turkey was insane. — 4 months ago

Is there something going on with the app? I can’t seem to edit the vintage anymore? @Vinous Favorites

Nikka Whisky Distilling Company

Miyagikyo Single Malt Aromatic Yeast Whisky

WhiskeyFest SF 2022 - (reused glass so not doing tasting notes) really nice. Will never find in the wild but delicious. I would lean less peatier if had to make a choice. Yoichi is the peatier one. Nikka - Single Malt Yoichi Aromatic

l'Onesta Lambrusco di Sorbara

Best red, dry sparkling wine I have tasted. Nice wild berry aromas and a nice, strong berry taste. Will be going back for more. Was the accompaniment to our Texas Thanksgiving turkey & jalapeno dressing meal. — 5 years ago

Sine Qua Non

Dirt Vernacular Grenache Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Decanted and tasted immediately. Bigg. Heavy body. Phenomenal and smooth but tight and leaning on you like a predator creditor. Came back to those after 8 hours lounging in the decanter. Now, medium-heavy body with more spices than Marco Polo ever dreamed of. The SQN wines, both white (better than the reds) and red, are eff you wines. They are ridiculous and defy norms, values and expectations. This has 30+ years of top-notch drinking. Great for lamb, turkey, wild game and…yah…boring beef. 12.25.24. — a year ago

Bold call on the whites but I’ve never had one that wasn’t amazing so maybe you are right.

Anthill Farms

Sonoma Coast Rosé Blend 2022

Wild strawberry, raspberry, watermelon rind, a bit herbal. Probably good for those that eat turkey. — 2 years ago

81 Kentucky Bourbon

This is my first attempt at Delectable. My daughter tells me it is for wines. This caramel-colored wine has quite the bite. Maybe my palate is uneducated, but I really don’t get any grape or fruit or citrus or currant or things I hear people say they get from wines. I do get a considerable taste of fire and a hint of new leather.. I’m not sure about the alcohol content, but after a full wine glass of this, and a second, I feel like dancing but I can’t stand up. — 5 years ago
