Gorgeous nose of red cherry fruit, lightly toasted oak, huge minerals but also somewhat muted. Will be back for more aromas as it opens.

What a palate. So silky, slippery and elegant with stunning fruit and gorgeous purity and freshness. Fruit is in the elegant cherry camp but cuts a swath on the palate. Wow what energy and lift and such high quality tannins. This is so so good. What a long finish. Awesome. Sure this will open and I’ll be back as the structure is starting to come alive — 5 months ago

This 2013 Cyrus (signed by none other than Hank Wetzel) is drinking remarkably well tonight. Voluptuous, fresh dark fruits & tantalizing aromatics full of spices, tobacco, leather, menthol, and espresso. Tannins are still sorting themselves out but I enjoy some grip to my BDX blends. — 4 years ago

From Switzerland. The AOC is Aargau. The blend is Zweigelt/Cabernet Dorsa/Pinot Noir.

What a wackily delicious wine. Nose is mostly darker fruits and stunning clarity backed by intense pepper and wood shavings. Dark berry, white pepper and spice. Awesome aromatics that are restrained and elegant. Palate has perfect blackberry essence and is round, opulent and fresh. Silky and rich. But never overbearing. Incredible balance and purity. Wow this has awesome acidity and powdery tannins and amazing complexity. Long finish. Rock star stuff and an intellectually hedonistic wine. — 6 months ago

Alexander Valley Vineyards is owned and operated by the Harry Wetzel family. Founded in 1975, it is located on Cyrus Alexander's old homestead. Deep Ruby, 13% Merlot added for body, aromas of dark berry fruits with sweet baking spice. On the palate black cherry and ripe blackberry flavors with cacao, oak and pepper spice. Fine chewy tannins good drinking now, medium+ finish, ok balance with soft . Tasting Sample. Nice value! — 3 years ago
