I can only imagine what this will be like in 10 more years. Unfortunately I had to open this way too early to make sure I didn’t need to pull a credit from a new store that I had bought a few bottles from, my 2019 Kerr were toasted from effects of heat. So had to make sure this wasn’t another bad bottle. As soon as I pulled the cork I knew it was just fine, tried a sip then corked back up then decanted the next day for 3 hours to enjoy with some Wagyu Rib Cap from Snake River. Fantastic combo. Took me forever to find a 2013 Jones at a fair price, bummer I had to open so soon. — 10 months ago
From magnum. Cork and wax were a mess. Totally disintegrated and required the coffee filter and everything just to pour and decant the wine
3 hour decant before dinner. Paired with wagyu ribeye steaks. Amazing. This wine was just balanced and smooth. Just delicious. — 5 months ago
2016 was a stand-out year, and this wine reflected that. We could easily have given this another 8 years: it was tight and wild when we opened it, but by the time we had it with dinner, two hours later, it was a powerful and delightful experience. Some tannins had dropped out but it was still grippy, and the fruit had deepened into something wonderful with traces of fig. And that acidity: oh my it was wonderful with our salmon and with some Wagyu. I think one of our guests found the right technical term to capture it: yum. — 6 months ago
Beast of the East vs. Best of the West….taste off
VA Monticello Petit Verdot against a Cali Napa Valley Cab.
Pairing: American Wagyu Strip, Home Fries, Mushroom Ron Zacapa 23 glaze.
As much as I love my Napa Cabs, the edge went to the PV. 93 - 92. — 9 months ago
Lip-smacking and delicious! We had this with some shrimp summer rolls, some salmon, and some Wagyu, and it was wonderful with all of them. We also had a 2012 Roederer and a 2016 Brunello and it wasn’t outclassed. There is a tension in this wine: the freshness of the fruit and the tannins and the acidity and the earthy depth all came through with focused clarity. This was a wine with a dynamic sense of place and personality. Thank you Greg Brewer! — 6 months ago
Amazing w/ the Allen Brothers A-5 wagyu.
This is another Bordeaux producer that makes wines for the ages. I’ve waited & waited on 2000, this shows some readiness. Yet, will go another 20 plus years.
Tonight this is well balanced earth & candied fruit. In 10 years, this is candied fruit & florals.
Still medium plus tannins. Blackberries, black raspberries, black plum with ample skin, juicy dark cherries, poached strawberries, raspberries, dry limestone grains with powder, dark, forest floor with dry leaves, some dry herbaceousiness-bay leaf, mint, dark spice, clove, nutmeg, some cinnamon, hints of vanillin, mid berry cola, sandalwood to cedar shavings, used leather, pipe tobacco, anise, some mocha, sun tea, dark, red, purple flowers with a touch of blue, excellent acidity and a well knitted structure, balanced, nicely tensioned with a ripe, elegant finish that lasts two-minutes.

2024/8/24 with wagyu lemon steak. Perhaps not fully open right now, but lovely nonetheless. Lots of juicy red cherry and berries with hints of forest floor, flower petals and high-toned spices on the nose. The palate undulates between lush approachability and reserve, but this is wonderful wine with a lot more ahead — 4 months ago
