This is a very tasty Spanish red from Rioja.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing blueberries, cherries, black plums, cooked cherries, oak, light vanilla, spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, chocolates and peppercorn.

Needs 3 hours to open up properly, so be patient. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.

100% Tempranillo grapes were aged in French and American oak barrels for 24 months.

Not super impressed. Very light bodied almost hollow. Much better after 3 hour in decanter. medium low acidity made food pairing not ideal. After a string of awesome imperial gran reservas it's hard to get excited. That said - it's a very well made wine and enjoyable in an off year for rioja alta — 9 years ago

First, this is a real value and solid wine for less than $15, a Tempranillo with about 15% Mazuelo and Granacha. Deep Ruby with lively aromas of red fruits and spicy tobacco. On the palate red plums and fresh cherry flavors with cacao and tobacco notes. Soft fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit and sweet spice. Over 3 million cases produced which may cause some variation among bottles, but the one I tasted was great! — 4 years ago
