Contino is my favorite out of the 4 lineups from CVNE - CVNE, Vina Real and Imperial being the other 3 - for its new world touch on traditional Rioja. On the nose blackberry and red plum scented with cedar, forest floor, vanilla, and light tobacco. The palate is plush and well balanced with excellent acidity and silky tannins.
Peaking and will have another 5-6 years before its slow descent. — 8 months ago

A fantastic nose. Deep blackberry, dark cherry, plum, mint, leather, blood and a touch of vanilla oak. On the palate this is velvety, intense, beautifully poised. Great fruit with lovely balance and real length. Exceptional. Vintages 90,94,96. — 3 years ago

The wine was Protos Roble “Ribera Duero”. There are some matches but the main name “Protos” is missing. Pleasant enough with our Italian dinners. One of my favorites that we’ve had in Spain. €23 on the restaurant wine list. — 2 years ago
