So talkative in the dried fruit realm—prunes, figs, dried cranberry and figs. The palate has a super texture, slightly grabby tannins but in the way you want to be grabbed, like at the end of a hug on a really good first date. GRAB ME tannins! These do, but politely, and you want them to because they are fine-grained if assertive. The dried fruit plays nicely with cocoa powder and freeze-dried espresso granules (smell them, you’ll see). REALLY good. It grows more herbal with time, too. — 4 months ago
The 2020 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso grumbles up from the glass with a smoky blend of crushed rocks, dried roses and crushed black cherries. This is velvety smooth yet lifted in feel, with waves of ripe red and black fruits offset by a bitter twang of balsamic spice. It finishes structured and long, leaving a sensation of liquid stone and licorice under an air of inner florals. The 2020 is a dark and savory Ripasso that's simply begging for the cellar. Punchy dark cherry, juicy. — 3 months ago
Yet another ripasso. Vibrant and bright on the palate, med-high acidity, bright red fruits - tart cherries, loads of it. Some herbacious funk (cinnamon and anise) towards the end of the Softer body than other ripassos with med-low tannins, mellows out gently without falling off a cliff, but also not particularly long-bodied. Definitely a much more elegant ripasso than a lot of the others I've had. — 5 months ago

This Ripasso went well with tagliata and steak it did need some time to open but when it did the fruit a the raisin aftertaste was really enjoyable. This was a 2020 vintage and I think it might even be better if left for a few more years. — 6 months ago
