I have always been a fan of the wines from this domain. Now at age 15/16 this wine stands firm! Everything comes together with a nose of red fruit, licorice, leathersoap. The mouthfeeling is silky, cherries you know these big black ones, subtle acidity making you want to drink more but no need as the finish takes you over the minute. Fantastic wine! — 14 hours ago

This wine has a medium ruby hue (trending deep in color) with robust and layered aromas and flavors that include strawberry sauce (think fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt), raspberry coulis, tart cherry, rose water, tomato leaf, mint, black licorice, anise, vanilla, and pipe tobacco.

On the palate, it’s dry, with medium (+) acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol (13%) and medium fine grained, soft tannins.

It’s a delicious and versatile wine. And fun to taste a California expression of Sangiovese outside of its homeland in Italy! — 7 months ago

Is the alcohol really only 13%? Aside from some of the Hilt wines, I can’t say I recall a Jonata wine under 14.

@Daniel veit I double checked and indeed it was 13% ABV. Must have been a cooler year or perhaps an earlier harvest … it was still ripe & certainly delish on the aroma and flavor front!
