Another gem from the California Lost and Found file. My friends at Meeker Vineyards recently stumbled upon 100 cases of this 2001 bottling of Mendocino Carignan in their cellars. When they offered me samples I happily accepted. Drinking very well- great purity, definition and balance. Bright red fruits, dried flowers, mint,
eucalyptus, tobacco- characteristics that I’ve noted in some of their older wines. Skillful cork removal and decanting required, tools not included. — 6 years ago

Zinfandel as it should be! Absolutely at it’s peak with mild tannins, loads of spicy fruit and wonderful mouthfeel. Great to just pour and sip although it pairs very nicely with grilled meat, hard cheese and crusty bread. This would be an awesome burger wine but would also go perfectly with a nonfatty meat like filet although a rib eye would be especially good with its marbling and juicy fats. Every Meeker wine is a cut above the crowd. — 4 months ago

I don’t usually order dessert wines, but it’s been an incredibly long day, and I’m still working late into the night. So, yes I did treat myself to this sweet, sweet delight. #WorkingDinner Ribbon candy, berry rich (loved this part), and luscious grapes! A fruitful #SWEETZinfandel that just keeps on giving as you let sit on your palette. It’s like smelling a bouquet of flowers! Or a beautiful taste of Spring! I am most definitely buying this for me at home as well. Officially! My new favorite dessert wine!
