This was my first experience with Bollinger, and it did not disappoint. There were flavors of pear a little bit of Apple and a kind of toasty-ness. I don’t have a lot of experience with fine champagnes. But it seemed like the flavors here were more delicate and nuanced and kind of layered I guess you might say. This was a great start to our Thanksgiving dinner. As my dad said, “now that’s the way to start a party”. $50 at Costco was a decent deal and it came in a nice gift box. — 5 years ago

The nose reveals; floral liqueur notes, more mid red fruits; strawberries, cherries & dark cherries. Blackberries, black raspberries, rhubarb, soft, volcanic minerals, limestone, steeped fruit tea, cedar, old leather & tobacco, dry crushed rocks, dark spices, dry herbal notes, eucalyptus, dry stems with dry & withering dark, red florals.

The body is medium full with a fair amount of tannins in a wine with this age. The structure, tension, length and balance are still quite sound with harmony. Floral liqueur notes, more mid red fruits, strawberries, cherries & dark cherries. Blackberries, black raspberries, rhubarb, soft, volcanic minerals, limestone, steeped fruit tea, dark spice with some heat, cedar, old leather & tobacco, cedar, dry crushed rocks, dark spices, dry herbal notes, eucalyptus, dry stems with some funkiness. withering dark, red florals. The acidity is nice. The long finish still show ripeness, good balance but, has leaned and shows nice persistence. — 7 years ago

After last nights disappointing Veuve Clicquot Rosé that I opened and someone pouring the entry level Veuve Clicquot tonight at an early Christmas party, I simply couldn’t take it anymore. I needed a really good glass of Rosé Champagne and BSR always comes through.

The 2016 showed nice ripe fruits and falls into style of the other 2016’s I have tasted. Not as complex as the other vintages but a nice elegant wine.

Color of dark purple, ruby, and a bit brown note on the rim. Nose of dark fruits, tobacco leaves, spice, and indeed some strawberry. Taste is sweet! Zest, cherry, , spice, marginal tannins come next. Quite milky. Aftertaste is also a bit spicy, tobacco leaves, and just a bit too watery. Too sweet for me but may be a good one in the party. — 7 years ago

Alternatively, buy a bottle and try it for yourself and share with a friend at a party. It’s a fan favorite for-a-reason.
