The Damn Wall

Mending Wall

Mortar & Stone Napa Valley Red Blend 2014

Lovely floral bouquet, rich and sweet, paired well with a duck sausage and red sauce spaghetti dish. — 2 days ago

Palisades Vineyard Petite Sirah

Fleshy, blueberry/blackberry, meaty, dark cocoa with some pie crust. Way too young of course but real enjoyable now. — 6 months ago

Opus One

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

Finally got a chance to enjoy this stunning wine - grilled some steaks to perfection and celebrated life with THE one and ONLY Opus One.

Life is damn good.

Bubbles tight like yo daddy’s cutoff jorts. Damn nice when it hits the tongue. Extra bacon in the collard greens? Yes m’am — a day ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Best vintage I’ve tasted. More balanced and a lot smoother than 13,14,15. A bright wine in a very tragic fire year — 3 years ago

Rock Wall Wine Co.

The Palindrome California Tannat 2016

Aged Yolo County Tannat. With a whimsical name. Dark color with a rusty edge. Smells a bit funky. Spike of berry liquor. Hint of wood chips. Flavors are very heavy on the black currant with a hint of plummy-ness. Might be a bit past perfection. Not as much as much tannin and funk as some Tannat, but has plenty of style. Drinks a bit like a French wine. Wonder who is using these grapes now that Rockwall is out of business? — 2 months ago

Domaine Coche-Dury (J.F. Coche Dury)

Meursault Chardonnay 2001

Straw gold, heavy in the glass. Spicey nose. Notes of apricot, citrus, petrol, tan spice and white stones. Powerful in the mouth. Massive acidity matched against a wall of ripe fruit. This was like an untamed lion in a cage that wanted to get out and roam around. Unfortunately it was consumed before we got the full impact of the necessary air time. — 4 years ago
