Terre D'ermina

Arianna Occhipinti

Terre Siciliane Il Frappato 2021

Popped and poured. The 2021 “Il Frappato” pours a beautiful light ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining on the tears. On the nose, developing with beautiful aromatics: raspberries, cranberries, pomegranate, red flowers, and crushed rock. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium(+?) tannin and medium(+?) acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. Overwhelmingly fresh. Finish is long and so delicious! So elegant. What a beauty! Drink now to enjoy its youth but if you have multiples, it might be fun to track how it ages. I suspect it has enough structure and balance. — a month ago

Finished my last of their 2010s last month. Still young.

Tenuta delle Terre Nere

Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese Blend 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Best on Day 2. The 2021 “Etna Rosso” pours a bright ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful with bright cherries and raspberries, carnations and rocky minerals. On the palate, medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a very pretty wine that wins you over with its charm and it’s versatile on the dinner table as well. Great QPR. Drink now with a little patience and through 2031. — 16 days ago

Larmandier-Bernier

Terre de Vertus 1er Cru Brut Champagne Chardonnay 2012

Divisive. Some folks thought “strict” , “ not balanced”. I enjoy this style but imo requires food. Lots of citrus , stones and zest. Fruit mostly on the nose along with some nutty aromas. Clenched finish, maybe time fixes that? I don’t know.

I adore Larmandier-Bernier. Food and, really, time. 2012’s have acid for the long haul.

Beautiful light red color. Refreshing and fruity, some earthy and slightly funky notes. Enjoyed this as a fresh pairing to some Indian food with friends, and looking forward to trying more from this Sicilian winemaker! — 24 days ago
