Have not had in 2 years. It’s awesome now. Nose is olive and game. So wild. Black and red berry fruit. Granite galore. So fine. So refined. Gorgeous and wide open. Palate is a wonder. Super juicy and decadent but allied with terrific freshness and a smoking granitic finish also with notes of game, herbs and olive. The nose is a 9.6. Outrageous. Wow this is juicy. I’m going 9.5 here. The purity and clarity of fruit puts it over the top. — 4 years ago
Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.
60% Zinfandel, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, for the 2005 vintage blend. This label features Redhead ducks, which we have commonly seen occupying our beachfront, not this year unfortunately.
Nose has vanilla bean, pipe tobacco, ripe cherry, ripe blackberry, prune (light) and over-ripe plum.
Palate has rich blackberry & cherry, oak plank, chalk (light), dried strawberry, ripe plum and raisin (light).
Beautifully long finish and tannins are long gone; this bottle is at the end of its life, also our last bottle of this vintage. Always interesting to see how long they will hold. The labels have always been a favorite of ours. — 7 years ago
Really smooth, blooms in your mouth. Had with duck confit rolls, shrimp tempura, fish tacos and swordfish. Went well with everything. Fonished with banana chocolate bread pudding. Mmmm good! — 7 years ago

Sweet but good red — 6 years ago
An incredibly expressive and terroir-driven wine that might be one of the world’s best wine values. Volcanic microclimate shines clearly through a heady nose whose first bite is not just smoke but...smoking volcano. Along that sweet dark fruit, grilled lavender, flowers. In the palate more primary with black cherries (grilled black cherries???) exotic spices, cooked black pepper, bay leaf, sage, that sanguine element that screamed high-iron volcanic soil, all held together by a very sitinctive salty spine. Finishes with a long note of those herbs and some drying tannins. Very juicy but with good structure and medium acidity avoiding any sense of being cloying. A really unique, transparent and well made wine that is an astounding value. I wonder whether it improves with age or is at its best here... — 7 years ago
Smoking! Loved everything about this wine — 7 years ago
Fruity and pleasant. Not overpowering. Great crowd pleasing red — 8 years ago
Big, rich and bold. Lightly sweet up front and tart + spice on the back. A bit on the tart side of the spectrum for me. Tart fruits really pop! — 8 years ago
Great wine to enjoy with a friend or alone!
Before I opened, refrigerated for 20 minutes and The more I let it breathe the more I enjoyed the wine. The Tempranillo grape used for this wine, made it a wine I would definitely drink again. — 3 years ago
Fantastic refreshing and fruity prosecco — 5 years ago
What a great Temp! It really reminded me a strong West Texas Tempranillo. It paired well with Antelope blackstrap. — 7 years ago
