Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2005

Smooth and round, dark fruits and a hint of spice. Not the most complex or compelling but a great sideshow to a fantastic roast pork. Friday night quarantine win. — 5 months ago

The Charmer Shiraz

For $6 it gets a 10, if I had to pay full price it would be just ok. Surprisingly fruit forward with a balanced finish. — 4 years ago

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company

Coffee Stout

Black coffee colored, with a root beer top encircling a pod of crumpet bubbles. Nice look. Turkish coffee sweetness, dark chocolate wafer; less sweet, and finally toasted-black almond and cocoa pod. Vanilla and toffee-brickle olfactory sideshow. Awesome espresso meets Chicory coffee entry to a firm, medium bodied beer with a balance of acidity and sweetness, but bound with a streaky savory-bitter. The effervescence is LW but lifts the heavy coffee taste, allowing a tart cherry-chocolate malt and date to cast faint shadows across the black.
