The cork was questionable in comparison to the last bottle, but didn't seem to matter. Lovely nose filled with flowers but you can really feel the heat of the 15.5% alcohol. Nice tar and smoke on the palate, and an extremely long finish! Probably drank this just in time! — 9 years ago

Ripe, rich and supple on the nose. Full detailed body hints of pomegranate, blackberry purée and dusty road. Finishes with a chewy extracted nuance of spiced black fruits that sail on. It was our WOTN matched against some stiff competition. — 10 years ago

Wonderful balance in this wine, the fruit was highlighted by cherries. Drank this back to back with a 2005 Showket Vineyard Bevan Cellars and this was preferred by the whole table. Just superb. — 11 years ago

At home eating leftovers tonight enjoying this surprise. I bought 6 bottles based on Russell Bevan being the winemaker. My experience with the first few bottles was disappointing, but tonight was special. I wish I could understand these differences; bottle variation???...dumb phase???...I just don’t know.

I’m generally not a Merlot drinker as a varietal but I also have fond memories of the 2008 Bevan Cellars Showket Vineyard Merlot...a wonderful wine. — 6 years ago
