St. Peter's Church Shenandoah Valley Zinfandel 2018

Great Zin from Amador county! Open it a few hours before you drink it. High % of alcohol. Should pair pretty well with red meat such as venison. — 7 months ago

Vino Noceto

Hillside Sangiovese 2011

Lighter color. Rusty edge. Smells good like cherries and berries of the mountain. Flavors are savory with an olive streak. Hint smokey and chewy. Clean and dry. Bit of candy in it. But it’s balanced and elegant. Nice. — 8 months ago

McKahn Family Cellars

Shenandoah Valley Grenache 2018

I have discovered a new favorite. McKahn Family Cellars. This is their Grenache 2018. The bouquet is full of spice and rhubarb pie. The initial palate is somewhat sour on the beginning but then diffuses into a nice dark berry flavor. This is followed by spice and dark chocolate. Then comes the oak and smoke. The finish is semidry and leaves you thirsting for more. — 3 months ago

Rose of Grenache 2020

I’m between 91-92 here. I followed this over two days and it stayed consistent. Would probably see slight improvement maybe with another year?

Blush pink in the glass…not sure I’ve seen a rosé so pink before! Being Grenache, you definitely get some spiced red fruit aromatics and more of the same on the palate. Very floral. This has a steely vibe to it that makes it extra fresh. Tart tangerine, underripe white peach, melon and plenty of crushed rock/limestone type minerality on the finish. I found this best around cellar temp…too cold makes this too racy.

Shenandoah Valley Syrah 2018

Lovely dark red color. Complimented with a fragrant nose of cherries, blackberry with black olives all expressed when drinking with a nice mouth feel. Finishes nicely with a lingering dark fruit flavor with that taste of black olives as it finishes. — 6 months ago
