Cueva La Sima Sevilla Tempranillo 2015

In Seville, so trying this locally grown tempranillo. Small batch with 12 months in chestnut barrels .. full bodied, fleshy black/red fruits with woody spice, a bit of aniseed, ripe (on the sweeter end of the scale), good length and grunty drying tannin. The components seem good but as a whole not so sure (perhaps it’s the chestnut ..)

I bought this wine in Toledo during my UCL trip in Spain because I saw many restaurants in Seville, Toledo, & Madrid have this wine in menu and on display.

Dark & fresh ruby red color with very nice aromas of red cherry and cool herbs on the nose. Full-bodied together with savory flavors of ripe & fresh red cherry, vanilla-mocha, and spicy tobacco on the palate. Conplex & strong structure, nice & solid tannins, and reasonable length on the finish. Perfect wine to pair with iberico & cheese.

Viña Ardanza Reserva Selección Especial Tempranillo Blend 2010

Another fantastic bottle of this stellar wine, this time from half. Learning from previous experience, on this occasion I decanted the wine a good two hours ahead of drinking, which proved rewarding. I continue to be blown away by the youthfulness of this wine and its incredible constituent parts.

Hugely aromatic and generous both on the nose and palate, the 2010 Ardanza brims with sweet cherry, blackberry - almost cassis, even - along with dried cranberry, cured meat, black pepper, Seville orange, cedar and just a hint of vanilla with a core of zesty acidity and fine, savoury tannins. This is a supremely complex Rioja from a benchmark vintage that is exemplary for the region.

Labeled Champs de Cherises Single Vineyard.
Very good, but I find it less focused and complete than the Appellation they produce.
Still absolutely above the average chardy.
Not overly oaky, you can feel the determined expression of the site with an unusual red little berry on the nose as a peculiarity.

Sounds delicious. I really like italian amaros. The better ones. Cheap ones are gross sweet. Theyre bitter but good when served on some soda water with lemon
