As if it wasn’t enough to experience three separate vintages of Noël Verset; I now get to follow it up with Thiérry Allemand’s Sans Soufre! Opened prior to dinner and enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2001 “Sans Soufre” pours a deep ruby/purple with a transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with wild notes of pure blue fruits, blueberries and figs, mixed brambles, Fun Dip stick, purple flowers, spiced meat, chanterelle mushroom, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is long. The structure remains monumental giving me the impression that this could easily see its 50th birthday. Drink now with some patience through 2051. — 5 days ago

Ålrajt, för tydlighetens skull: den första flaskan jag drack MÅSTE ha varit defekt, för flaska nr 2 är utan problem drickbar - god till och med! Slank, mineralig och med en svag, svag hint av nån exotisk frukt. Tipp topp till oliver, oljedoppad levain och kapris. Phew, vilken tur! Och vilken upprättelse! #caves — 2 months ago

Nosing and dipping my lips in the glass only. Served with a roasted lamb leg and beans. Superb pairing. Chalk, cherry, raspberry, pepper, bramble... this is superb and deep. The palate is acid driven, showing cherry and raspberry notes. It's very youthful and light in style. It goes very well with the lamb. — 3 months ago
