Flavio Riserva Chardonnay 2016

Rotari Flavio Riserva 2016
TrentoDOC, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
A vintage-dated Metodo Classico, Chardonnay-dominant with Pinot Nero support, aged extensively on lees. This 2016 Riserva shows remarkable depth, integration, and alpine precision. Structured, layered, and confidently mature, a sparkling wine that over-delivered in every dimension.

Aromas & Flavors
Baked apple, candied citrus peel, toasted brioche, roasted hazelnut, and delicate honeyed nuances. Subtle minerality runs through the core with beautifully integrated autolytic complexity.

Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with a refined, persistent mousse. Creamy texture meets vibrant acidity, creating tension and elegance. Long, composed finish with impressive depth and harmony.

Food Pairings
Lobster risotto, truffle pasta, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, roasted poultry, seared scallops with brown butter.

Verdict
The clear standout. Serious, layered, and age-worthy. This is where TrentoDOC flexes its muscle, delivering Champagne-level structure with alpine clarity and identity.

Did You Know?
Riserva-level TrentoDOC wines require a minimum of 36 months on lees, though many producers exceed this significantly for added complexity.

🍷 Personal Pick
Top wine of the Rotari lineup. The 2016 showed maturity, composure, and depth that completely elevated the tasting experience. A bottle worthy of cellaring and emotional remembrance.

Salton

Talento Corte Único Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2018

Medium ruby , light pink /ruby rim . Quite discreet , mix of summer fruits , redcurrant , blackcurrant , blackberry . Touch of spice and a slight herbaceous note . More intensity in the mouth , quite spicy red and dark fruits , quite grippy , slightly astringent tannins , balanced acidity . Quite good length , touch saline at the end, touch of coffee and spice also . Not forced or over done , true to other Talentos from past vintages , though this does have a bit more noticeable structure . Needs a little time in bottle , will certainly improve over the 5 or 7 years, and last 10 to 15 , maybe more . — 4 years ago

Rotari Trento Arte Italiana - Metodo Classico Brut

Rotari Arte Italiana Brut NV
TrentoDOC, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
A classic-method sparkling wine from the alpine slopes of Trentino, traditionally Chardonnay-led with Pinot Nero support. Clean, precise, and textbook TrentoDOC, offering bright acidity, fine mousse, and crisp mountain freshness. A solid benchmark expression that leans more classic than provocative.

Aromas & Flavors
Green apple, lemon zest, white peach, and subtle almond notes. Light brioche undertones appear gently in the background with a clean citrus-driven finish.

Mouthfeel
Light to medium-bodied with a fine bead and refreshing structure. Crisp, straightforward, and balanced, finishing dry and clean without excessive depth.

Food Pairings
Oysters, fried calamari, prosciutto & melon, tempura vegetables, light seafood pasta.

Verdict
Well-executed and reliable. A polished, standard-bearer Brut that delivers exactly what you expect from TrentoDOC — freshness, precision, and easy elegance.

Did You Know?
TrentoDOC requires secondary fermentation in bottle (Metodo Classico) and a minimum of 15 months on lees for non-vintage Brut styles.

🍷 Personal Pick
Appreciated for its correctness and balance, though stylistically more classic than emotionally striking.

Brut Arte Italiana Trento Rosé Blend

Rotari Arte Italiana Rosé NV
TrentoDOC, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
A Pinot Nero-driven Metodo Classico Rosé showcasing alpine freshness with delicate red-fruit character. Elegant in structure but stylistically more restrained than expressive.

Aromas & Flavors
Wild strawberry, red currant, pink grapefruit, and subtle rose petal. Light pastry hints appear briefly before a dry, crisp close.

Mouthfeel
Medium-light body with energetic acidity and fine mousse. Clean and refreshing, though less layered and less complex than its vintage sibling.

Food Pairings
Tuna crudo, smoked salmon, charcuterie, caprese salad, light poultry dishes.

Verdict
Nicely crafted and fresh, though not the standout of the lineup. Balanced and pleasant, yet lacking the extra dimension that elevates memorable Rosé sparklers.

Did You Know?
Rosé TrentoDOC is typically made with Pinot Nero, either via short skin contact or blending a small portion of red wine into the base.

🍷 Personal Pick
A respectable rosé expression, but not my stylistic favorite from the house.

Talento Cuvée Marianna Extra Brut Chardonnay Blend

Pale lemon in color.

Light and elegant nose and medium in body, with medium plus sized bubbles.

Dry on the palate with medium acidity.

Showing citrus, lemons, green and red apples, light earth, minerals and light spices.

Nice finish with limes and light almonds.

Well balanced, elegant and rich. Fruit forward with nice complexity.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime.

Not bitter nor tart. I like these kind of sparkling wines.

Very tasty and feels very young. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years.

100% Chardonnay grapes from the 2015 and 2017 vintages. Disgorged in 2023.
