Highlight wine at Old Rioja Wine Dinner. Little history on the bottle: it's part of a special lot that was to be released on the 100th anniversary of La Rioja Alta and a blend of 85% Tempranillo with some Mazuelo, Graciano and Viura. It was aged for twenty four months in large oak vats, then for ten years in 18-20 year old barriques and finally bottled in 1986 to be released in 1990… Forty eight years after harvest the wine is pure pleasure. Beautiful brownish/reddish color with scents of rose petals, boysenberry, musk, forest floor, mushroom and old leather on the nose. On the pallet, the oak, tannings and fruit are completely integrated; very docile yet seductive. A true gem and one of the most interesting wines I've ever tasted. — a month ago
Developed by Winery founder, Giuseppe Tasca to honor his wife on their golden wedding anniversary. Primarily Inzolia with a bit of Sauvignon Tasca blended in. Beautiful straw gold color. Aromas and flavors of yellow apple, peaches, white flowers and honey. Quite expressive with a bit of heft which allows it to stand up to many different foods. Touch of wet stones on the long finish. Excellent balance. Thank You Ron B! — 13 days ago
2018 vintage Smooth and Buttery. Toasty oak and notes of apple. Served with Chicken Piccata! Delicious and good price! Will buy again! — a month ago
Copying @Ron R ...
Funky open with a bite.
Calmed to a cranberry, white pepper, with some herbal notes- dill? Spice and pepper persists on the palate with tangy cranberry and and orange rind. Tannins need a bit more softening. But overall, quite fine.

Runner-up for Wine Of The Night but definitely the pleasant surprise of the night. Little funky nose and not particularly effervescent for a sparkler. Acidity is muted and feels like a “real wine” as opposed to those chemically enhanced science experiments that pass for luxury wine life in some quarters. Definitely would serve this to my most discerning guests like @Sam Shepard @Brendan Devine and if I could be so blessed, the GOATs of the wine world like @Ron R @Mike R @Willie Carter, a little something off the beaten path. — 2 days ago
