Riverland%2c Lower Murray

Ricca Terra Vintners

Bronco Buster Fiano Blend 2021

56% Vermentino, 44% Fiano, this property is in Australia’s Riverland area (Murray River) a few hours east of Barossa, super crisp, fresh, lively, and enticing, very nice acidity, Vermentino really showing out, but Fiano seems to provide depth and complexity, honestly a heck of a sub-$13 Australian wine here on the Left Coast!! — 7 days ago

Riverland Rosé Blend 2011

This Rose is delicious. Nice little bit of acidity, well balanced and hints of strawberry and melon in the nose. Pairs well with salmon surprisingly. — 2 years ago

Fresh A.F. Nero d'Avola

A fun and light wine (12%) for easy afternoon drinking. Light purplish red, blueberries on the nose but cranberries in the mouth. Earthly notes, tobacco, cedar, elegant tannins integrating with the rest of the body. Rather balanced. — 2 months ago

Bellwether

Riverland Montepulciano 2019

Medium to dark Ruby. Dried meat and cherry, very savoury on the nose, earthy. Medium weight palate shows the same savoury earthy notes with red cherry. Great balance - nothing stands out overly. A good new world rendition of Montepuliciano with fruit from the Riverland in Australia but made at Bellwether In Coonawarra. A great accompaniment to homemade Pizza. — 9 months ago

@Anthony De Blasi Over say a hundred years Australia had welcomed many many Italian migrants to these shores. Largely all happy to work hard for a better life including In viticulture and wine making. Many adopted Sangiovese and Nebbiolo but now all kinds of Italian varietals have been grown including this Monte, Aglianico, Nerello Mascalese, Fiano etc etc. When we did vintage at Bellwether a couple of years ago I tried a Bianca d’Alessano for the first - a full bodied thick skinned white which likes warm climates and was grown again, in the Riverland. Just a cross section.

Thank you for the information, good to know! Ever had a Nerello from Australia?

Can’t say that I have Anthony. I’ve had an Australian Nero d’Avola on the odd occasion.

Esoterico Adelaide Hills + Riverland White Blend 2021

Surprisingly approachable for an orange wine. Kumquat and bitter lemon. Good balance of acidity to counter the nice phenolic finish. Good structure. — 7 months ago
