Ridgecrest has always been my favorite Chehalem vineyard, but this 2011 from the Stoller Vineyard contends at almost 13 years. Pure, fresh, black cherry, fine acid-tannin structure, with a long, vibrant, elegant finish. — a year ago
Cherry, raspberry, currant, blackberry, licorice and oak. Medium-bodied and soft tannins. — 3 years ago
Ribbon Ridge. Bought at Vineyard 10/23, $52. Needs some time to open up to soften. Decanted. Once open, very smooth and the fruit mellowed. — 8 months ago
Plum and brambly earth. Happy national wine day of 2022! I’ll drink to that with this fab bottle. — 3 years ago
Beautiful 20 year old Oregon Pinot. Opened, re-corked, then enjoyed an hour later over the next 6 hours. Slightly clunky at first but expressed good integration after the first hour. Evolved gradually and subtly. Dried strawberries gave way to raspberry preserves and then sour cherry. Medicinal and sage notes gave way to lavender and rose then cigar/cigar box then smoky bacon and finally black tea. No real awkward phases. Likely drinking at or near peak now. — 8 months ago
