At 10 years old, Ravens Wood Old Vine Zinfandel 2009 was delectable, divine and oh so delicious. Full of berry fruit with a perfect amount of spice. Lucky me! — 7 years ago
Got to take advantage of another Wednesday Wine Committee and boy was it worth it. Wow! Killer wines brought by Glenn for his 60th!
I've now had the 2008 and 2010 back to back in less than a month and I'm sold on this stuff. The fruit in these vintage champagnes, even with age, is so impressive. Granny Smith apple, croissant bun and grilled pear. Killer! — 9 years ago

I think the whites from Alban are much overlooked and are wines that generally will benefit from aging.
This 2013 is no exception however it might hit its peak sooner than the 2010/12 vintages and to my palate is a bit less "CA Rousanne-like" than I usually see from John/Glenn.
Still a BIG fan!!

Huge Ravens Wood fan - bold flavor with little after shock. — 6 years ago
Another visit to the weekly Wednesday Wine Committee, and a wonderful hosting by Glenn. As always, all wines are tasted blind. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert.
Ripe and a little hot. Picked up the ABV here more than the others. Rich in style with red, blue and black fruits. Little bit of smoked meats and black pepper/peppercorn finish. At this age, it’s more modern in style. Give it time. — 8 years ago
I actually enjoyed it. Great fragrance and not too sweet. — 8 years ago

The wine pours a medium gold color with promising honeysuckle, baked apple, melon, and baking spice aromas. On the palate it's full bodied for a wine that sees no ML. It's harmonious with bright acidity and a hint of tannins that add to its delightful structure. It shows baked white peach and apple, melon, a bit of nectarine and baking spice flavors with a lingering finish. This is a great winter white! The fruit was sourced from the Bonofiglio Vineyard, owned by Glenn McGourty and his two brothers. It's a seven-acre organically farmed vineyard is located five miles north of the town of Hopland. It was aged in neutral French oak for five months with lees contact and stirred once a month to increase mouthfeel. 14.2% abv — 10 years ago

Young and powerful! To me, this balanced the rich and ripe fruit with the herbal and savory notes of black pepper/spice. Fruit was very fresh and flavor packed up front, but the mid palate and finish showed great peppercorn notes. — 8 years ago

Pretty darn good for a semi sweet — 9 years ago
Pretty good but not the best Riesling I've ever had. Tried it alone and with food. — 9 years ago
Light Cabernet. No tannins to speak of which is great. Very smooth. — 10 years ago
