Potomje Pelješac, Pelješac

Bura-Mrgudić

Marica Plavac Mali 2018

100% Plavac Mali, Croatia’s most popular red grape variety and also, recently discovered, an offspring of Zindandel, from vineyards on the Pelješac peninsula on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast. Aged for 6 months in French oak barrels (and another 4 years in bottle in this case). Notes of strawberry and smoke. A hint of cherry cola that I’ve noticed in some Zinfandels. I thought it would be a fruit bomb, but after some airing it was totally balanced. Earthy, savory, pleasant to drink — 6 months ago

Položaj Dingač Plavac Mali 2010

Beautifully aged, with flavours of prune and kirsch. With 15% of alcohol content it could almost be called a fortified wine, it definitely tastes like port wine — 5 years ago

Vinarija Miloš

Stagnum Plavac Mali 2013

Bigger, bolder, richer, still dry but more flavorful Plavac Mali variety. Better if allowed to breathe for a bit, pairs well with cheese and red meat. — 7 months ago

Vinarija Matela

Crljenak Kaštelanski Zinfandel

A great example/profile of the local crljenak (pronounced tsir-lyeh-knuck) grape done well. A solid balance of tannins and dark cherries. When it’s high quality like this, I like more that it’s Zin offspring. Highly recommend! — 3 years ago
