TSWC. Very enjoyable drinking which also didn’t mind being slightly warm — 5 months ago
First found this wine probably 11 years ago at the Annual Cape Mentelle Cabernet tasting where Cape Mentelle pits their wine against leading Cabernets from around the world including Bordeaux, Napa, NZ, and other Australians. On this occasion the 2008 vintage. This Houghtons stood out on the day. Dense in colour Barb said pitch black. Dusty cassis notes - oak is there but it doesn’t dominate - balanced and delicious. — a year ago
A Bordeaux blend, with Cabernet Franc as its foundation It is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot.
Almost opaque with ruby edge in glass and mouth filling. Both rich and elegant with mulberry cigar and graphite hints. Well structured tannins and a delight.
Decanted and wine evolved over next hour or so.
Good stuff 👍

Bold & deep. A blackberry & leather & smoke. — a month ago
Creamy lemon and a subtle salinity and just a hint of yeastiness. Bright, lifted texture and presence and while it doesn't have the depth of Champagne proper, it is definitely delicious and well made. — 2 years ago
