If I was a man of greater means, this tasting would represent an annual ritual of sampling. As it was, we got a one time peek into the upward climb of such intensity and focus- all coiled violets and crushed black fruits. It’s so coiled it almost snarls in the glass. Delicious. A nose is full of a blackberry and a leather. I should mention, this wine needs a decantation. A palate is complex. For the first glass I thought that it’s chaotic: a strong alcohol, “noisy” fruits and tannins (that’s why decantation is needed). But after some time it presents itself with a good balance between tannins and fruits. The finish is long and spicy (a pepper). — 5 years ago

AMAZING BORDEAUX that’s still able to shine, decanted, after a few hours of opening! In ritual notes of damp leather, subdued / dried fruits and felt past its prime. 2 hours later - completely blossomed into this robust, aged, beautiful almost “fruit forward” masterpiece with almost olive overtones. I’m sure it was a great bottle 10, 20, even 30 years ago - but now it’s almost better as it’s transformed into this subtle, wonderful wine which was able to hold its own against aged cheese and roasted beef. A true treasure I’m glad we uncorked!! (BTW - cork was LONG - get your longest screw out for this one)!!! — 2 years ago
