Nec Otium

Otium Cellars

Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Fabulous WASHINGTON state style minerality and currant/black cherry profile. Plenty of structure to spread the terroir-driven expression. Tight grained tannins sings harmony with the concentration of black fruits - especially in the mid-palate. A medium long finish reveals an acceptable growing/harvest season! Well done!! — 3 years ago

Reserve Loudoun County Malbec 2015

This rating is relative to its region (vis-a-vie: varietal potential). In reading Anthony‘s prior post, I too am shocked by the extracted character of the estate Malbec. Southwest facing w/ decent pitch, the vineyard now has so maturity to it. By no means was this a New York strip steak Malbec, but it appeared beautifully with the brats and currywurst from the on-site vendor. There is something almost about it that creates a charm especially for the region… Mind you, this is no big cork Malbec, but for the terroir, it’s quite an accomplishment! Taste profile is medium bodied with a cascading spice, black fruit and herbal wave to a long finish. It’s the glass that leaves you waiting for another sip :) — 7 years ago

Reserve Loudoun County Blaufränkisch 2014

Wow then and wow ‘now’….this 2014 build is a testiment to this rarely planted varietal in the cooler northern corner of the state. This extended barrel aged, cooler vintage had plenty of acid/phenolics at 7.5 years old. Plenty of dried violets and sage to frame and seasoned black cherry attack. Absolutely wonderful with bratwurst and sautéed peppers and onions! I hope to get 2017 Reserve next trip up. Sturdy and medium/full weighted, time has mellowed and harmonized acid/tannins to taste terroir completely :) — 4 years ago

Otium Montecarlo Bianco

Kitchen remodel requires wine all the time. Going well though and right on track. 👊. Picked this up in Italy in May. Light, refreshing. A little mineral and lemon. — 8 years ago

Cherry and red currant fruit, with graphite, mineral and spice. Pretty Gevrey which paired well with branzino and with duck breast.

Fronte Negotium Otium Tergo Clos Mullet Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2015

Fruit forward with key notes of cranberry and orange peel. Beautifully soft mouth feel with just a touch of dryness on the finish to give it just a bit of structure or complexity. Great food wine. Had it with braised beef short rib. Delicious. Will buy this wine again if I can get my hands on it. — 5 years ago

Otium Cellars

Pinot Gris 2014

Deep, lush aromas of green apples and crisp pears with a touch of stone. Bright and creamy on the palate. Flavors of green melon and pear lead to bright, crisp acidity with just a touch of stone. The finish is long and full on minerality with juicy, lingering acidity. Perfect pairing for pork chops with apple compote. — 10 years ago
