Old Weka Pass Road Pinot Noir 2016
See previous notes here on Delectable. Mid to pale ruby in colour. Pale yet powerful. Great aromatics of pansies, rose petals and violets also stalkiness. As Barb said the aromas of a beautiful garden. After a while an Animale, feral note not unlike some Burgundies we’ve had. Medium bodied palate - dried red fruits with a sweet yet savoury twist. A very polished new World Pinot by any measure. Tasters often identify with Central Otago and Martinborough for quality NZ Pinot Noir. Don’t forget about Canterbury in the South Island not far from the city of Christchurch. Luckily I have 2 left. Bob Campbell MW says drink through to 2025. — 2 years ago

Anjou Chenin Blanc 2020
Unlike his Savennières, the fruit for Boudignon's 2020 Anjou Blanc is purchased. The result is a pure, clean wine with delectable purity. There are delicate flavors of just-ripe pineapple, citrus, nettles and a subtle hint of vanilla. It is fermented and aged in both 500-liter barrels and oval Stockinger 'cigars'. A line of acidity pulls this wine through to a refined conclusion. It can be approached now for its fine fruit but will go on. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, September 2022)

The 2022 Monts Damnés is a wine whose qualities you might miss because its texture is so fine. It is calm, tender and elegant. It's not fruity but savory with a pure, clear, chalky style. Chêne Marchand Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2022
The 2021 Chêne Marchand is a powerful, long-lived style with masses of concentration inside a mid-weight package. There's a ripeness of almost tropical fruit alongside nectarines and a touch of green gooseberry. A light creamy flavor joins the fruit. It is impressive, structured and firm. Clos Häuserer Wintzenheim Riesling 2019
Tasted at the winery. Made from 46-year-old vines, the 2019 Wintzenheim Riesling Clos Häuserer reveals an aromatic profile of well defined lemon zest, green and yellow apple, white peach and some blossom. This is a full-bodied, concentrated Alsace Riesling, made by France‘s first MW Olivier Humbrecht. The wine is perfectly balanced by zesty high acidity and closes with a long, lingering finish. Les Romains is a vineyard with its feet in flint to the east of the fault line in Sancerre. The 2020 Sancerre Les Romains begins with a fruity and open welcome, blossoming and silken in the mouth before tying the wine up; the flint influence acts like the belt on a pair of trousers tightening up the middle and leaving a sensation of sinew and length with a fine nettley fragrance. The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is light in body but dense in concentration because of low yields. It's almost silvery in color and restrained due to hand-picking, leading to pure grapefruit, passion fruit and nectarine, all delivered with focus and punch. Martinborough Pinot Noir 2014
Red and black fruits - cherry. Generally muted on the nose, even the following day. A big Pinot on the palate - it needed to be with curried prawns with plenty of heat. The following day similar notes - a good accompaniment to strong flavoured foods. Medium + savoury notes on the palate , yet to fully blossom, with fine Sandy tannins. "Le Clou 34" Bourgogne Aligoté 2019
Boxing Day 2022 at OKH. Good balance of body and acidity.
100% old-vine Aligoté. The main plot in Corgoloin’s Le Clou was planted in 1934, and other older plots are included, with the oldest being one planted in 1902 in Magny-lès-Villers. Vinified and bottled completely without addition of sulphur.
