Pleasant. Nice nose and front. Trails off in the middle and finish, but still very pleasant. — 3 years ago
Great first taste but trails off. Very enjoyable — 4 years ago
For the price, there isn’t much to complain about. Great oakiness and subtle spice off the bat- there no hiding the aging in this wine (even for a 2017). Great ripe cherry notes, trails of dried fruit. Great body that doesn’t over stay it’s welcome. — 5 years ago
Incredible nose of blackberry jam, and soft on the palate. Tannins are light but there is a bitterness that trails at the end of the sip. Slightly spicy undertones, would pair this with bbq or Mediterranean. Loved it! — a year ago
The 2018 Flaccianello della Pieve is another stellar wine from Fontodi. It is the richest Flaccianello ever made (in terms of dry extract), with elevated acidity that trails the 2016 by just a touch, but it does not taste like that at all. Dark cherry, violet, lavender, spice, mocha and graphite build with a bit of time in the glass. Like the Sorbo, the 2018 Flaccianello is not a wine of size, as in most previous years, but rather a wine that exudes vibrancy, energy and class from start to finish. I absolutely loved it. Wildcard. Prob my fav cuvée from Julien. Tasted aged even tho it’s a 21. Flowery quality to it, like roses, potpourri.
[2019 Vintage:] “A captivating, translucent ruby red hue. Even on the nose alone, there is already a suggestion of ripeness, yet it is utterly enveloped by fragrance: white flowers, grapefruit, cherry, even stony minerals. Really classy and effusive, replete with sapid pinot-esque flavours of enviable concentration. The vintage is quite magical here: all pure, palate-staining but also inexplicably airy in the mouth. The mouthfeel is silky, culminating in a persistent, gentle and thoroughly sweet-fruited long finish held together by an invisible frame. Like the ethereal cuvée Auguste, trails of crushed flower petals replicate and repeat on the lingering finish.” AC
“Guillot brings a unique perspective to gamay—not quite Burgundy, not yet Beaujolais—not only in his Mâcon Rouge and Mâcon-Cruzille, but the mysterious, radiant, field-blended Cuvée 910.” Jon Bonné — 2 years ago
An 8 year old Chianti that had fully transitioned to secondary and tertiary notes of earth, cigar box and old weathered leather. Not a single fruit note. Fun and easy to drink as we were exploring the trails we had freshly cut into the mountain side and with our last home grown to tomatoes on the bruschetta’s. — 3 years ago

Deep ruby color. Nose is ripe plums and black cherry, licorice, wet sage. Chocolate. Full even tannins, toast, coffee, finish dried fruit, blueberry, still rich. Last bottle, last Selene. One of my favorite little learning trails. — a year ago
