Mcgah Family Cellars

McGah Family Vineyard Sémillon 2018

Anne-Marie rated this 92, I gave it 90, so we split the difference. Notes of guava and white melon on the nose. Delicate notes of passion fruit and honeysuckle on the palate. Inoffensive, but lacks a little character and complexity. Having said that, it doesn’t cost a king’s ransom, so, net net, it’s a buy. We purchased this on allocation, so, very pleased with the outcome

Thanks guys and gals. I love making this dish, as it has such a visual appeal. Although the sauce is the most difficult element. But I crushed that, too. There’s no way my wife is divorcing me anytime soon! 🙂

Very enjoyable. Mike killed it across the board for 2016. What a great vintage. — 5 months ago

Fabulous Wine! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻🍇🍷
Parker’s Rating:

“The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon McGah Family Vineyard Reserve ratchets up everything to a perfect example of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. Beautiful blueberry and blackberry fruit, an extraordinary equilibrium between acidity, alcohol, tannin and wood, stunning purity, a finish that goes on for close to a minute, and a dazzling palate presence from what appears to be an incredible terroir make this an amazing effort in Cabernet Sauvignon. This is magnificent Cabernet Sauvignon and should hit its prime in another 5-7 years and last 25-30.”

Wifey pic and she’s in artsy-fartsy mode, again!
The nose is pure strawberry jam. The palate is sweet, yet earthy. Tannins are completely integrated, with hardly any acidity. Very fruit-forward with red and blue fruits. This should not be cellared beyond 12 - 24 months, besides, it’s not going to go to a better place, given its composition and structure.

Parker says 15-20 years but that’s pushing it

Ronnie! I fear you’re very off here. Just the other day, @Jason and Jennie and I were speaking that the 16 is far more backward than previous vintages.

This is a hold in my books.

@TheSkip, I’m always off my friend, and happy to be corrected. I do hope that I’m horribly wrong. Have you seen any reviews from WS, WA, AG, or any major pro? If not, why do you think that is? I’m sticking to my guns on every word in my notes. Tannins are all integrated, very little acid to note. I think it’s gonna decline, fast.

B Cellars

Star Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Just a few B Cellars left in stock, nice wine but just overpriced for me at $125.00. All the Mike Smith entry level cabs at 60.00 - $70.00 which include Becklyn, Mcgah , Myriad & Scarlett seem to be a better bang for your buck — 6 months ago

Sometimes you just need a pizza and a great Zin. Check, check. First time with the Scarlett Zin. Floral hints on the nose, surprisingly, and one of the lightest colored zins I can recall. The palate is more true to form, bringing a wave of full bodied fruit. Long, plush finish. Gets better and better in the glass. — 5 months ago
