McCay Cellars

Lodi Grenache

Oldest known Cinsault vines in CA make this. It is a bit over oaked imho, but it has good varietal character and a big, spicey nose that really pleases. Red fruit is intense, on the jammy side. — 8 years ago

Zinfandel Contention 2012

$60+ zin from Lodi. Actually had a roundtable tasting with Michael McCay at ZAP festival this year. He's going for lower alcohol ageworthy wines. Molasses, baking spices, medium/high acid, medium + body. — 7 years ago

I wish more Zin producers would aim for 14.5 or lower.

Lodi Cabernet Franc 2012

Deep and rich, this has a lot going for it. Fruit is dark berry with lots of spice and chocolate. A lot going on but it all comes together. Would go with spicy or hearty fare. — 8 years ago
