Very smooth. Delightful. — 5 months ago
Deep Ruby in colour. Strong earthy stony aromas with deep ripe plum plus red and black fruits. An example of a Hunter Valley wine trying to be like a South Australian Shiraz - too ripe and full bodied. “Clumsy” HH said when it was first released. Thankfully wine makers lately in the Hunter have returned to the old medium weight, savoury, “sweaty saddle “ style. Returning to this 2005, this is more full bodied and rich but the quality of the very old vines planted by Maurice O’Shea pulls it over the line as a high quality wine. The more recent vintages of Maurice O’Shea are of extreme quality (2014 - 99 points), back to what the Hunter does best, and will live for decades. — 6 months ago
Popped and poured from a half bottle; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The “Oeil de Perdrix” is made in the saignée method and pours a pale copper/pink color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of strawberry, raspberry, pink pepper, lemon, and chalky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A lovely expression of a Blanc de Noir Rosé from Bouzy. Disgorged April of 2023. — a month ago

Good fruit forward champagne. Brut with micro bubbles — 6 months ago
This bottle was off - Le Petit Clos is a fav of min. I’ve had 3 bottles previously of this vintage, all well integrated, smooth, leaving you wishing for more. A bit unbalanced, lacked floral notes and had a strong acidic finish. I’m going to just leave my other bottles for a couple of years before revisiting. — 2 years ago

The fruit on this thing is ridiculous. So vibrant and pure. Dark cherry and zingy purple berries (David Crosby!). Crushed granite lurking in the background. So mouthfillingly fruity on the palate. But it’s got really electric, integrated acids. None of the slight disjointedness or astringent/bitter notes I’ve had in other ‘22s. Not super complex but I’m here for the fruit on this one! — 2 months ago
Don’t think this is the same sku…this is vintage- this out of Magnum. 2005 and disgorged date was 8/2022. 17yr on lees!! This wine was incredible. Rich, deep and leesy without being overblown or nutty. The color was great. Brilliant hay. In a line up of amazing, rare and prized wines, this was the wine of the night and made everyone pause. — 9 months ago
