One of the top beers for me, all time, not just New England style ipa — 10 years ago
The Zind Humbrecht Heimbourg Riesling kicks it off on all cylinders, ripe and powerful fruit with a deep complexity, balanced by an invigorating crushed stone minerality and a well dosed portion of kerosene. Wonderful interplay on the palate where the ripe, slightly honeyed fruit is pierced by its stony core and invigorating acidity that is lasting through the long finish. A wonderful act by a mastermind producer that makes your night worthwhile. Applause!

Started off pale ruby in appearance, but became darker with air. Similarly the nose was initially closed, but slowly revealed complex aromas of red fruits, floral and earthy notes. On the palate, there were delicious notes of red berries, spice, liquorice and a herbaceous bitter finish, supported by soft tannins and acidity giving it an interesting balance. Finish a little short but never abrupt. Couldn't put my glass down as drinking this felt like I was playing mastermind with the bottle. Constantly teasing and giving clues with every whiff and sip, yet not revealing its full repertoire. After 3 hours,
tiramisu (who can resist) killed the palate and I lost the guessing game. Will be interested to try this again in a couple of years as this definitely needs more time in the bottle to be ready. — 9 years ago
Very satisfied with this purchase. Plum finish. Coffee and chocolate notes. Great for a dinner party with two friends you like and one you do not really like — 11 years ago
Michael David is a mastermind. The nose is expressive with oak, juicy red fruit, and spice. The palate is medium body with round supple tannins and notes of cherry, strawberry, oak and baking spices; excellent balance. The finish is medium cherry and tasty. — 10 years ago
Just crazy. Like no other and running out fast. From the late mastermind with honey and white flowers galore. Don't take this one lightly. A perfect 10 for me. If you ever find this. Never let it get away. — 11 years ago

Modern take on Ribera del Duero from select vineyards. The color is deep purple, indicative of the 60+ year old vine grape selection. An expressive nose with scents of black fruits, tobacco and leather. The mouthfeel is equally expressive with cherry, blackberry, oak, vanilla, and licorice. The tannings are soft for such a young Tempranillo, and it is not slander but quite the contrary, it allows for the elegant finish with finesse and length. Very exiting wine!

PS The mastermind/winemaker behind Aalto made his mark at Vega Sicilia for over 30 years. It is no surprise the wine is excellent; it will be exciting to see how the wine evolves over the next decade and how it will challenge some of the greatest wines produced in the region.
