The 2019 Beaune Blanc du Chateau 1er Cru offers candied orange peel, vanilla pod and light almond scents on the nose, a slight melioration compared to its showing in barrel. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, a slightly waxy texture, bitter lemon, orange pith and peach skin, leading to a cohesive finish. After a stuttering start, this has found its groove. Tasted at the Bouchard Père tasting in London. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2023) — 2 years ago
The 2019 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru has a gorgeous, intense bouquet of orange blossom, lemon verbena and light flinty scents, all beautifully defined. The palate is well balanced: quite extravagant for a Vaillon, yet tensile and edgy. It fans out wonderfully on the finish. Excellent. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2021)

The 2020 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru has some reduction on the nose, tightness, and broody at first, though it opens after ten minutes of aeration. I like the fruit profile here, which is wild strawberry and cranberry polished by oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, ripe red fruit, again, very polished by the new oak, detracting from the typicité. But it is a Beaune predesigned to seduce, and you cannot deny its cashmere finish and fresh figgy aftertaste. Charming. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)

This is the 2013 Bouchard Pére & Fils Monopole Beaune De La Mousse Premier Cru Pinot Noir. From Beaune Cóte D'Or, France.
On the noe there is cherry, strawberry, raspberry, some funk, rose petals, herbaceous, licorice and forest floor.
On the palate there is cherry, raspberry, strawberry, licorice, spice, mushroom, some oak and dark earth.
This is medium bodied with a fresh crisp mouthfeel medium to medium + acidity and medium+ grippy mouthcoating tannins that has a medium to medium+ red fruit tulled soil finish. This has many years of life left. Have a great weekend please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 3 years ago
The 2017 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has an attractive, well-defined bouquet featuring subtle undergrowth notes, flint and shucked oyster shells, although it certainly needs some time. The palate is very smooth and harmonious, delivering beautifully judged acidity, hints of orange pith and white peach and fine tension through to the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2021)

The 2020 Corton Grand Cru is well-defined and focused on the nose, with a mélange of red and black fruit. Cedar and tobacco hints emerge with time. It has a soft, rounded entry with lower acidity, quite plush for a Corton, but it doesn't have the structure and precision of the best wines in this flight. Corpulent finish. Drink this over the next 15 years. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)

The 2019 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has an effervescent bouquet with orange zest and almond scents. Seaspray touches come through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a pleasant sour lemon twist on the entry, relatively fresh and tensile with a brisk, quite peppery, lemony finish that lingers in the mouth. Superb. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)

The 2019 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru was the standout from vat last year. Now in bottle, it displays brilliant delineation on a nose of yellow plum, wet limestone and light floral scents. The fresh, vibrant palate sparkles with energy and offers veins of tropical fruit that never impede upon the terroir expression. Impressive depth and length. Outstanding. The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru has quite an austere bouquet, backward and sultry at first, then hints of lemon zest, Conference pear and light earthy aromas emerging with time. The fresh, saline palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Initially, it misses a little finesse and precision toward the lemongrass-tinged finish, but returning after 10 minutes, I find a degree of elegance and harmony that wins me over. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2021)

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru is clean and precise on the nose, with raspberry and wild strawberry, crushed stone and discreet sous-bois scents. This, again, unfolds wonderfully in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle but insistent grip. It is more saline than Launay Horiot's Chambertin, with fine structure and a hint of spice towards the finish that has just a touch of piquancy. Bravo - this is a Chambertin from the top drawer. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)
