July 7, 2021. Dinner w/KK 😁 Jack D, and J2. Celebrating KK return to CoMO, albeit just a visit. She brought pizza, I pulled out this wine. Perfect w/pizza and a lovely super Tuscan from Maremma. 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Slightly different than the 2012 vintage I drank and rated in March. This is just as yummy, though less aged so more fruit (dark cherry) and less earth and leather. Still wonderful. Drank both bottles I had. Need more! — 4 years ago

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2018
Cocoa, cinnamon and clove come together with crushed plums and balsam herbs as the 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico blossoms in the glass. This is silky and enveloping yet cool-toned in feel, with depths of dark red fruits nicely contrasted by a core of saline minerality. The 2018 finishes structured and long, tugging at the palate with grippy tannins as hints of Baker's chocolate and inner rose slowly fade. The 2021 Cornas is a solid red that’s concentrated and elegant, offering crushed violet, red plum, red cherry and iodine layers paired with stemmy gradations. The medium-bodied 2021 concludes with wonderful freshness on the savory finish. It shouldn’t take long to come around, something that cannot be said for the surrounding vintages. Second time having this wine. This wine is kicking off a long weekend in Nashville with me and the wife. Very good. Not giving the detailed notes I usually provide, because I just wanted to enjoy without analyzing. So I will standby my rating before. Glad I have a few more of these. — 3 years ago

The 2008 Vintage is an infant. Tightly wound and vibrant, the 2008 still needs time. Today, bright acids dominate. I wouldn't dream of touching this anytime soon, as the 2008 remains embryonic, although from time to time the barest hints of signature Krug notes peek out from the wine's structure. Vibrant saline notes and sculpted fruit are the signatures of a cold, late-ripening year that produced classically austere Champagnes. Disgorged: Autumn 2019. Krug ID: 419044.
