Alanera Rosso Veronese Corvina Blend 2013

Dark purple color, crushed dried flowers scent. Currants, dried cherries, bitter chocolate, a little woody, pretty soft tannins. From Shawn's. Not from Lombardy, as Delectable misidentifies. — 3 years ago

Prugnolo Nebbiolo

100% Nebbiolo, from the Lombardy region. Got aromas of plum, cherries, and hazelnut. Dry red wine, full bodied, and well balanced, really long finish. The acid and tannins on this wine are so trippy, and for how they process this: letting the grapes dry out has a heavier alcohol amount but still isn't sweet (like what could typically happen with he sugars). You are left with hazelnut at the end. Quite fun wine, got that "pricey vintage wine" feel but still at a great price point. — 3 years ago

Ca' Brione Terrazze Retiche di Sondrio White Blend 2015

Very nice and very interesting white blend from Lombardy. Crazy blend of a native Italian cross of Riesling and Pinot blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, and Nebbiolo vinified white. Crisp with lots of complexity, excellent with sea bass. — 3 years ago

Sfursat Valtellina Nebbiolo 2011

Sforzato di Valtellina by Nino Negri 2011 - 100% Nebbiolo from Lombardy - extremely well-perfumed nose. Flowers (mainly roses but some purple flowers as well) and cherries and a hint of balsamic. Very similar to a Barolo, and less tannic than an old school Barolo of this age but really beautiful wine with a heavier emphasis on the floral notes. Similar to a La Morra in style - heavy tho at 15.5% ABV — 3 years ago

Nepomuceno Benaco Bresciano IGT Merlot 2011

Normally not a Merlot fan but this is a nice local Lombardy wine, dry, ripe blackberry, plum, spicy, a little leather and tobacco. Good body and depth — 3 years ago

Derthona Colli Tortonesi Timorasso

Very nice. First time having this grape, which apparently comes from a small part of Piedmont on the Lombardy border. Almost like a dry intense Riesling - petrol and acid - but a bit more floral. Would want more. — 3 years ago

Torræ del Sale

From the Lombardy region of northern Italy, this is made by the wollersheim winery winemaker phillipe's younger brother Jean-Francois Coquard. Fantastic and approachable table wine. It goes great with good, particularly fatty, red meat. The beets are very present in both smell and taste. Notes from the maker: full-bodies red with aromas reminiscent of eucalyptus, red beets, little berries and notes of almond on the finish. Made from their estate-grown Italian Bonarda grape. — 3 years ago
