Night start off with2001 DRC La Tache, it was big and bold, after an hour, LePin & Henri Jayer just run it over. Beautiful wine! — 5 years ago
1 hr. decant & was ready to rock with my Duck 🦆 Dinner 🥘!!! Happy that Gary Pisoni put La Tache cuttings in his dirty underwear in 1983 prior TSA Bullshit & grafted onto vines in his Santa Lucia Highlands vineyard. This “Poor Man’s” La Tache is always Smokin’ great! AG says 95 Points & his review is point on in relationship to the wine. Cheers 🍇🍷👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 — 5 years ago
Needs about 20 mins to decant, the tannins will come out if you allow it to breathe. — 5 years ago
M’s bday dinner (7/12). Tasted blind. Bright tawny color. Has good weight but suspect it’s older. Exotic powerful nose. Everyone smiles, this is special. Notes of red cherries, Asian spice, rose petals and dark earth. Flamboyant in the mouth. “Amazing” underlined 2x in my notes. Memorable. We started enjoying this after 4 hours of air was given to it and even 3 hours after that this was still singing. Guessed 69 La Tache. This ended up being my favorite wine of the evening. The emotional impact was more than the other 2 slightly older DRCs. There was a long, mixed debate on this though. — 6 years ago
The 6th and final of the Vosne Romanee Grand Crus. Tasted blind. Red fruited without the intensity on nose and palate of the others in this final group. In past tastings La Grande Rue has been a standout and good value in relative terms but this year it lacked the depth class and intensity of the others in the group. To summarise the Vosne Romanee GC group the consensus of the group was #1 to the DRC RC, Equal 2nd to La Tache and the Thibault Richebourg, 4th to the Hudelot RSV, 5th to La Romanee ( a tough school when a wine as good as this is placed 5th!) and 6th to La Grande Rue. Congratulations to Prince Wine Store for putting this wonderful tasting on every year and being able to source these increasingly rare bottles. Already looking forward to the next one. — 5 years ago
Honeysuckle, perfumed, luxurious up to its neighbor La Tache! — 5 years ago

I have been a long time fan of Les Malconsorts as it is a neighbour of La Tache at a fraction of the price. We chose not to decant with the advice of the Somm but after 40 minutes and vigorous swirling maybe we should have. Initially closed but then developed a savoury red fruited nose. Extended through to the mid weight palate and developing with aeration but with no great complexity. After an hour more aromatics and more alluring - a red fruited, red floral, verging on meaty perfume. A recent Malconsorts I had from Sylvain Caithard exceeded this one. A very good but not a “wow” wine. One of those Burgundies which do not live up to expectations nor the price paid. — a year ago
