We started our afternoon with Owner-Winemaker, Alex Starey touring his vineyard.
Afterwards, we began with his Reserve Chenin which, is produced from 48 year old vines.
The nose reveals; soft wet wool, underripe green melon, green apple with no skin, white peach, gooseberries, pineapple, lime, lemon, light herbaceous notes, very understated minerality & soft chalkiness, white spring flowers. The acidity is excellent. The ripe, lightly polish, elegant finish is right in my wheel house.
Photos of; a pano view atop his hillside vineyard, Alex pouring our wines for tasting, our tour of his property and the company truck.

Wow nice blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Mourvèdre with a majority of Merlot (88%). Both dark and red fruits along with elegant tannins — 10 years ago
Feels early to try this. Clear predigree here. — 7 years ago
Floats effortlessly between being bright and lively & richly weighted. Beautifully lifted with flowers and tropical fruit wafting through the air. — 10 years ago
Second best wine of a Syrah night. Only surpassed by the Keermont — 10 years ago
Accomplished Cape Syrah, reminded me of well made Saint Joseph reds. — 4 years ago
Liked this one slightly more than the Becklyn, one of new favorites. Outdoor hangout 4/2021 — 5 years ago
#capewine2018 — 8 years ago
Equally impressive red is Merlot, CS, CF, Syrah — 12 years ago

Really nice job. Keermont reminds me of Keenan (an already great value) at 2/3 of the price — a year ago
