Monthly WTF group recap. Theme this month was “bring something special”. Normally we taste all of the wines blind, but we decided to do a relaxed night with amazing wines at a great restaurant. Spectacular evening!
This was my contribution. Again, it was paired next to the filtered ‘11 vintage and the colors were incredibly different, with this being hay/straw colored with just a touch of cloudy appearance. If guessing blind, I would have called this Aubert SugarShack (which I love). Medley of lemon cream, marzipan and honeyed sea salt on the nose with a rich and powerful profile on the palate, yet it is nimble...perfectly balanced. Sweet oak, caramel dipped golden delicious apple at the finish. — 5 years ago
Nice enough as a wine, but can’t say that it has either the green pepper or the somewhat “purple”ish qualities of cab franc that I’ve come to expect from the Loire and Napa, respectively. Maybe too old? This was a gift and so not sure what the storage conditions were, slightly stewed. Still nice pairing with chicken thighs with olives and feta. — 3 months ago
Delicioso português. Me leva de volta a Lisboa. Fácil de beber, levemente ácido.
Melhor português que já tomei até o momento. — 4 years ago
2016 lite and somewhat dry. Beautiful deep purple color. — 2 years ago
Deep yellow color and strong aromas of vanilla, stone fruits. Wonderful strong, rich flavors of vanilla, oak, with subtle background of citrus lending acidity to keep it light and very drinkable. Not too oaky or buttery, everything to love about California Chardonnay! — 3 years ago
